Hi everyone, it’s Kelly Maskery here! I thought I would share on the blog how I used the hearts and starts cutfile.
I decided to do a half and half page (leaving one side white to make the white cutfile stand out against the pink half and my title pop against the plain white cardstock.
I feux stitched around the outer part of the cutfile to add some interest. I added lots of florals from my stash and created some clusters to draw your attention to the cutfile rather than covering all the details up. I didn’t want the page to be really flat (as I normally pop my cutfiles up onto foam to create a shadowing effect) so for this one I added some die cut florals that I hand cut on my machine. I cut these using some pieces of textured wallpaper (who would know) and I love how this gives the leaves some realistic leaf patterns.
I used different leaves to create my clusters. Initially I was going to leave these white but instead I used some Tim Holtz distress inks which are stocked at Twilight and inked over the leaves using some green and brown shades. I love how the ink sits differently in different places on the textured leaves.
I have also added some acrylics in black to make the title pop and added a flair for interest.
I would love to see what you create with this cutfile.
Have a lovely day
